Storyboard Text

  • Winston goes to his apartment where he anxiously writes in his diary about his rebellious feelings, hiding out of the view of the telescreen in his home.
  • Winston participates in a two minute hate with O'Brien, who he believes is a rebel, and the dark haired girl, who he hates for her loyalty to the party.
  • Winston does his job in the Ministry of Truth where he alters history and burns old evidence in order to make the party look good.
  • Winston talks to an old prole in a bar and tries to find out the real history of the nation, but the old man doesn't remember.
  • Winston wonders to the shop where he bought his diary and buys a glass coral paper weight. Mr. Charrington the store owner leads him upstairs where he finds an inscription from the St. Clement church. Winston plans to buy the inscription next time, but finds himself being followed by the dark haired girl when he leaves the building.
  • The dark haired girl falls and passes a note to Winston saying that she loves him. At a bar, she tells him to meet her in a remote location so they can freely talk.
