Jesus continued talking, “There used to be a man who had two sons. The younger one was eager and said, ‘Father, give me my share of money.’ So the father divided the land between his two sons and himself.
“Not too long after, the younger son collected all he had and went to a far place and wasted all his wealth on wild living. Once all wealth vanished, his whole country had a severe famine and he became in need.
“So, he asked a fellow citizen to hire him and he was sent to fields to feed pigs. He desired to fill his stomach with the food the pigs were eating, but he was given nothing by anyone.
Can I have a job here?
Sure, your job is to feed the pigs.
He said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’
When he came back to his senses....
So he stood up and went for a journey for his father. He was still far away from home, but his father saw him filled and filled with compassion, ran to his son. Wrapped his arms tight and kissed him.
“The younger son spoke and said, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
