  • Democracy is a popular system of governance. That means that you are allowed to vote for what you want to change in your society.

  • Now we are in Athens in Greece. It was here every thing started with democracy. The word "demokratia" is greek and means "role of the people".
  • Women and slaves were not allowed to vote at that time. Crazy, isn't it?

  • Okey, listen here. Direct democracy is the first type, that means that people living in the country can make decisions on the laws. For example, people in a country vote yes or no to join EU. The second type is representative democracy, that means that people vote for persons that will make a change in the country.

  • Free and fair elections means that you can vote on what you like without cheating. Individuals and human rights are respected that means that people can talk and vote on what they like.
