  • Justinian grew up with an uncle named Justin, who was a powerful general in the army.
  • Justin soon became emperor, and chose Justinian as his advisor. They ruled Rome together.
  • Justin soon died, and Justinian was forced to grow up and rule the Rome on his own.
  • Justinian did not rule Rome alone for very long. He married a woman named Theodora, who had a great impact on Rome.
  • Justinian thought many of the rules for Rome were outdated, so he created many new rules, which were used for hundreds of years after his death.
  • Justinian and Theodora only had one child, but he died as an infant. So, when Justinian died, his nephew, Justin II became the emperor.
