The dog was lying on the grass in the middle of the lawn in front of Mrs. Shears’s house. Its eyes were closed. It looked as if it was running on its side, the way dogs run when they think they are chasing a cat in a dream. But the dog was not running or asleep. The dog was dead. There was a garden fork sticking out of the dog. (Curious Incident page 1)
¨Youre mother before she died was very good friends with Mr.Shears. Im not sure you understand they were very good friends.¨
¨Mother had not had a heart attack. Mother had not died. Mother had been alive all the time. And Father had lied about this.¨ (Curious Incident page 112)
Father rubbed his face with his hands and pulled his chin down with his fingers and stared at the wall. I could see him out of the corner of my eye. And he said, “I killed Wellington, Christopher.” Curious Incident page 119
'"I cooked his meals. I cleaned his clothes I looked after him every weekend. I looked after him when he was ill. I took him to the doctor. I worried sick every night he wandered off at night. I went to school every time he got in a fight. And you? What? Wrote him some f****** letters. " 'Then mother said. "So you think its okay to tell him his Mother is dead?"'
"And I called the dog Sandy. And Father bought him a collar and lead and I was aloud to take him on walks to the shops and back. And I played with I'm with a rubber bone."
