Oh please father, won't you tell me the story of how our kingdom was founded?
Well, you see, Alexa, our kingdom was founded by a man named Warvold not so long ago. As a matter of fact, it was only about 35-40 years ago, now that I think about it.
Warvold was cast out of his hometown, and he went on an incredible journey across the entire landmass we live on. But he saw dark and dangerous things, and he knew that he must build a protective barrier around the country.
And so Warvold, with the help of prisoners forced to do hard labor, built the great walls around our cities and connected them with roadways. And that, Alexa, is how our kingdom came to be.
Alexa, the mayor's daughter, asks her father about how the kingdom they live in was founded.
The mayor recounts the tale of heroism and acceptance between Warvold and the citizens. He recounts how Warvold went on a great adventure, saw many good sights, and a lot of bad ones too. He tells of how Warvold is accepted back into the community after he warns the citizens of a great many dangers that lie in the hills and valleys outside of their towns.
I chose this scene because it resonated with me that the man Warvold was compassionate enough to forgive his people for casting him away. He could have chosen to build himself a house and put large walls around it to keep the monsters at bay, but instead, he chose to go back to his hometown, warn the people of the imminent threat, and potentially save their lives.
