Storyboard Text

  • Out of Chaos...
  • Uranus, Tartarus, and Gaea
  • Cronus
  • Out of Chaos two beings emerge. They are the god Oceanus, and the goddess Eurynome. Eurynome wanted to make order out of the chaos, and separated sky and sea by dancing on the waves of Oceanus.
  • Rhea
  • Three other beings are born out of chaos. They are Gaea, Goddess of the earth, Uranus the god of the sky and heavens, and Tartarus, the god of the underworld.
  • Zeus is sent to Crete
  • Uranus and Gaea marry, and gave birth to 12 titans, a race of formidable giants. One of which is Cronus, the most wily of the bunch.
  • Zeus Returns to Fight his Father
  • When Cronus is older he marries Rhea, who gives birth to 6 children. In fear that these children will take them over, Cronus swallows them.
  • No! How could you!
  • Angered at Cronus for eating her children, when her sixth child is born, she sends him off to Crete, where he will live far away from his father. Instead, she gives Cronus a rock wrapped in swaddling clothes for him to swallow, which satisfied him.
  • Go on to Crete now, Zeus, you will be safe there. I will replace you with this rock, so your life is spared.
  • Once older, Zeus returns to his unsuspecting father. Rhea gives Cronus a vomit-inducing potion, and he throws up his other five children who work together to defeat their father, and sent him to the depths of Tartarus. On the other hand, Zeus made himself Supreme God over all, and lived with his favored gods on Mount Olympus, in Thessaly where he brought order out of the chaos.
