"A Shocking Accident"
Ralph Iweriebor 1st block 5-02-18
Jerome is very young in the beginning of the story. He assumes his father was killed in a gunfight. So i would say he's optimistic .You can see how he changes throughout the story. At first hes ashamed of how his father died and towards the end you can see he accepts it.
Jerome being called into the housemaster’s office at school, but no explanation is given for why he is supposed to be there.
The Main Conflict of the story follows Jerome from the moment he found out about his father’s death. Which he takes hard because he thought his father was killed by a gunshot wound to the moment when he is mature and engaged to be married. Throughout his life, Jerome has to suffer the laughter of others upon hearing that his father was killed by a pig
The ending is very short and to the point: Jerome is extremely happy that Sally reacted in an appropriate manner to the news and he is even more excited to marry her. In the resolution, Sally asks about the fate of the pig that killed Jerome’s father
One theme i noticed was coming of age. Which was illustrated by jerome's transformation from a child who learns his father died by a pig to a man whos happily married.
I think that it took alot of courage to deal with the laughter and ridicule of people that heard how his father died. And relief when Sally didnt laugh.
