Storyboard Text

  • As the roots grow, they force other cracks apart. Roots can pry apart cracked rock.
  • Abrasion is another force of mechanical weathering.
  • Abrasion refers to the grinding away of rock by rock particles carried by water, ice, wind, or gravity.
  • These particles act like sandpaper on wood and wear away the surface of the rock.
  • The final force of mechanical weathering is animal actions.
  • Animals will use their sharp claws to burrow in the ground, and by doing so will break apart rocks in the soil.
  • Thank you for coming to watch our play! We hope you enjoyed it!
