Charlie Gordon is a 37 year old man. His desire is to be smart. A scientist, named Dr. Strauss, told Charlie to write down about his life. Charlie takes a "Rorschach" test and fails it.
We have decided to use you.
Charlie takes another test afterwards. This test is called the "Thematic Apperception Test." He also bombs this test.
Yes, I finally won!
(Algernon is still inside.)
Charlie then meets Algernon, a mouse. Algernon is going through the same process that Charlie is. They both go against each other in a maze race. Charlie loses this race and then vows to beat him once.
Charlie is informed by the doctors that they will use him. He then goes through an operation. This operation is supposed to make him smarter.
Charlie starts learning more quickly. He finally beats Algernon in the maze. He feels a sense of accomplishment from this victory.
Charlie goes to work and then hangs out with his co-workers afterwards. He finds out the truth about them and then feels ashamed. He then starts avoiding them.
