  • At the beginning of the story, the townspeople gather for the selection of the lottery. Mr. Summers begins thrituals and the families all stand together.
  • climax
  • The conflict in "The Lottery Ticket" is first whether or not Ivan and his wife will win. But more importantly, the conflict becomes Ivan's thoughts on what to do with the winnings versus his wife's hopes.
  • Falling action
  • Begins when the crowd begins to arrive, all families from around the village gather in the center of the little town. Tessie Hutchinson rushes in blustering about being late and joins her family.
  • resolution
  • Each member of the Hutchinson family draws a slip of paper from the box . All of the papers or blank, except for the Tessie's, which has a  black dot in pencil on it . 
  • Tessie begins to scream that its not fair , its not right . The villagers begins to pick up the stones they'd gathered earlier and form a circle around Tessie . They want to get this over with before noon dinner .
  • As Tessie screams , a stone hits her on the side of the heat .Old man Warner,the oldest man in the villages , urges the villagers on . The villagers descend upon Tessie with the stones
