  • This slide represents the population of blacks in Haiti that were slaves. There more than 500,000 slaves in Haiti at this time.

  • This slide represents the way Toussaint led the slaves to rebel and fight against the French in order to abolish slavery.

  • This slide represents Toussaint telling all the slaves to burn down any building that is connected to the French rule. This way they can get the French's attention and abolish slavery,
  • Jean-Jacques Dessalines and Haiti's Independence
  • Here represents how Toussaint met with French officials, and asked them to abolish slavery and in exchange he would tell his people to stop rebelling.

  • The French made the agreement to abolish slavery and leave Haiti, until they felt Toussaint might have been planning another revolt and arrested him. 10 months later, Toussaint died in jail.
