  • William Lloyd Garrison wrote The Liberator, an abolitionists newspaper. Proslavery groups burned down his house and ruined his printing press.
  • Oh no! My house is burning down!!

  • Fredrick Douglass was an escaped slave who spoke out at an abolitionists meeting. He motivated many people to act with his firsthand stories. He was an influential of the slavery reform. He wrote his own book and started a newspaper.
  • Shall such a man be held a slave in Christian land!?
  • The slaves on the plantations are treated with such cruelty that no living thing should have to endure. They are not treated with the respect and kindness that all of mankind should receive.
  • Sojourner Truth was a former slave like Fredrick Douglass and Garrison and Douglass inspired her to speak out about slavery. The abolitionists may not have ended slavery but they help changed the Northern's minds about it.
