  • Exposition
  • You should know, my noble son, the real snake that stung your father is now wearing his crown. Hamlet 1.5.40-42
  • Conflict
  • Kill him!
  • There is so much out of whack in these times. And damn the fact that I’m supposed to fix it!  1.5.210-213
  • Maybe the ghost is a trick!
  • Complications
  • I feel guilty :(
  • I’ll watch my uncle. I’ll probe his conscience and see if he flinches. If he becomes pale, I know what to do. 2.2.564-566
  • Ha I murdered the king
  • Here the location is established, we are in a castle in denmark. King hamlet has recently been killed. A ghost is seen by soldiers who bring in Hamlet to see. The ghost tells him he was murdered by Claudius (The new king)
  • Climax
  • I wish I could pray
  • Hamlet feels that he must seek revenge on his father’s behalf. But you cannot just kill the king. Additionally he is not sure if the ghost is real so he struggles with what to do.
  • Falling Action
  • Hamlet did it! It wasn't me!
  • Pick up the corpses. A sight like this suits a battlefield, but here at court it shows that much went wrong. Go outside and tell the soldiers to fire their guns in honor of Hamlet. 5.2.401-404
  • Claudius hires Hamlets friends to spy on him. Hamlet rejects Ophelia, seemingly trying to look insane. Additionally the actors come and Hamlet has them perform a play to see if Claudius is guilty.
  • Catastrophe
  • Claudius acts guilty and stops the play. Hamlet finds him praying and won't kill him since he will go to Heaven in theory. Finally Hamlet kills Polonius while confronting his mother.  This is where conflict with the king is now unavoidable.
  • A villain kills my father, and I, my father’s only son, send this same villain to heaven. Seems like I just did him a favor.3.3.77-80
  • Hamlet has a heart to heart with mom about his issues with her. Claudius sends him to England with a letter to be killed when he arrives but Hamlet escapes. Ophelia is sad and drowns herself. Laertes is mad, Laertes challenges Hamlet to a duel.
  • Whatever happens, happens, but I’ll get revenge for my father’s murder. 4.5.108-109
  • Claudius poisons the win and accidentally kills the queen. Laertes has a poisoned sword, cuts Hamlet, gets cut himself and sells out the king. Hamlet gets all macho and stabs the King with said sword then forces him to drink the poison. Horatio lives to tell the tale, Fortinbras comes in and becomes king since everyone is dead.
