  • Carl Marx, a German philosopher, and a revolutionary socialist, came up with Marxism which suggested that everyone should be equal

  • Carl Marx's philosophy led to the creation of many revolutionaries including Lenin, who became charge of overthrowing Russia's government
  • Lenin
  • When Lenin was young, his beloved eldest brother, Aleksandr was hanged for conspiring with a revolutionary terrorist group that plotted to assassinate Emperor Alexander III.  From this, Lenin became politically radicalized
  • Prison
  • In December 1895, Lenin and the union was arrested . Lenin was sent to jail for 15 years,then he was sent to Shushenskoye, in Siberia for 3 years

  • Lenin was not discouraged, and instead He spent this time theorizing and writing. He finished his book named 'The Development of Capitalism in Russia' where he argued that capitalism was rapidly destroying the peasant commune.
  • After his exile, he met with other Russian Marxists in London and established the Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party (RSDWP) which split into the Bolsheviks, and the Mensheviks. Lenin became the leader of the Bolsheviks

  • Marx stated that the the proletariat in the capitalist nation, must rise up and overthrow the Bourgeosie

  • Russia entered World War I in August 1914.  Russian participation in the war was disastrous, food and fuel shortages soon plagued the vast country. Tsar led Russia into military failure and the dissatisfaction between the proleteriats weres rising
  • By 1917, The citizen's trust for the government was running the bottom. Russia's involvement in world war 1  led to people's frustration. 
  • March revolution
  • Demonstrators gathered in Petrograd for food and they were supported by huge crowd of striking industrial workers
  • In 1893, he moved to St.Petersburg, and while working as a public defender, he connected with the revolutionary marxist circles
  • The troops sent by the government was not enough to silence them. In result, Tsar abdicted the throne and the provisional government was made, which consisted of the bourgeosies.
  • By the fall of 1917, dissatisfaction reached its limit between the workers and the soldiers. Lenin secretly organized factory workers, peasants, soldiers and sailors into Red Guards.

  • Peace, Bread, Land!
  • They managed to capture the provisional government set up by the Duma. The Bolsheviks seized power of the government and Lenin became the ruler of the new communist state
  • No More War No more Tsar
  • No more inequality in powers just let it go
  • Russia's involvement in war ended with the treaty of Brest-Litovsk. Which gave numerous Russian properties to Germany, and Lenin earned the trust of the citizens by offering them food and land.
