  • On what proof, what proof?
  • I am given sixteen warrant tonight, sir, and she is one. 
  • Poppets?
  • I never kept no poppets, not since I were a girl.
  • I spy a poppet, Goody Procter.
  • And what signifies a needle!
  • Why, they say it may signify that she...Why, this, this- it is a needle!
  • What signifies a poppet, Mr. Cheever?
  • Cheever shows up at the Proctors to inform them that Elizabeth was charged and needed to go to the court.
  • The girl, the Williams girl, Abigal Williams, sir....She sat to dinner at Parris's house...stuck two inches in the flesh of her belly, he draw a needle out. 
  • Why, she done it herself! 
  • Here now! Mary, how did this poppet come into my house?
  • Cheever explains that the court told him to search the house which he is against and wants them to hand him any poppets Elizabeth owns.
  • Mary Warren, a needle have been found inside this poppet.
  • What poppet´s that, sir?
  • Procter told his wife to go fetch Mary so they could settle who the poppet belonged to. While she has gone out of the room, Cheever discovers something shocking within the poppet.
  • You will not go!
  • Proctor, the court is just-
  • Cheever goes on to explain why the needle is really important towards Elizabeth's charge.
  • Elizabeth comes back with Mary and Procter gets her to tell Hale and Cheever the truth about the poppet. 
  • Elizabeth tells John she will go with them, as she sees there is no arguing out of it. She goes on to explain to Mary what she must do, and she tells John what to do with their children.
  • I´ll go John, I think I must go with them. Mary, help Mr. Proctor as you were his daughter-you owe me that. John when the children wake speak nothing of witchcraft.
