presentation about the case involved with principal Robert E. Lee and the Weismen family
Lee Vs. Weisman (1992): At the Nathan Bishop Middle school graduation of 1989 Principal Robert E. Lee gives the Rabbi speaking a two-page flyer about conducting prayers.
" I believe that the rabbi's prayer is a violation of the first amendment's establishment clause."
In 1992 the supreme court ruled that the practice of inviting a clergy to offer prayers at the graduation did violate the establishment clause because very few students would be willing or able to skip the event. Because of that they were forced to participate in a religious exercise.
This case is a state case because no one out side of road island was involved in the case.
So the Weisman family won the case. Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!
