At night, since everyone was asleep, I awoke, I armed myself with a knife. I secretly leapt down in the sea, I swam to shore.
Clam in mare desilui et ad litus natavi
I sought the hut of the pirates with the greatest speed. Since I had approached the huts stealthily, I saw my master throughout the window, lying on a couch as two guards are drinking wine.
Cum casae furtim appropinquavissem, per fenestram vidi dominum meum ac duos custodes vinum bibentes
Tum ego silentio ingressus hunc custodem pugione percussi
I sought the hut of the pirates with the greatest speed. One of the guards exited out of the hut, and the other was remaining with my master. Then, silently entering here, I struck the guard with a knife.
Ad litus dominum portavi, ibi scapham inveni quam piratae non custodiebant
Then, coming out of the hut, I brought the master to shore, for that man was sick on account of the wounds, he was not able to walk. There I found a small boat which the pirates were not guarding.
Thus, I set out away from the shore, we escaped off the island. We were already in the small boat when we were found by a certain merchant. Since we had neither food not water, we were seriously sick.
A mercatoribus quibusdam inventi sumus. Quoniam neque cibum neque aquam habebamus, graviter aegrotabamus
But the merchant cared for us and brought us to Brundisium. There my master stayed for many days now he grew stronger and will be there only a few days more.
Sed mercatores nos curaverunt et Brunisium attulerunt. Ibi dominus meus multos dies moratus
