  • The War of Attrition started because the Egyptians wanted Israel to be weak after the six day war.That is why it is called the war of attrition. Attrition means to slowly reduce the strength of someone through attack. To wear down or weaken.  
  • The six day war just ended. This is the perfect time to make the Jews weak!
  • -from July 1969 - August 1970 -War was between Israel and Egypt -The period between the Six-Day War and the Yom Kippur War can be divided into three sub-periods. 1.June 1967 - February 1969: Relative calm with Egypt, and strong activity in the regions of Jordan, Judea, and Samaria. 2.March 1969 - August 1970: The battles of the War of Attrition against Egypt. 3.Post-War August 1970 - the Yom Kippur War in 1973: Increased activity in the region of the Golan Heights and Lebanon.
  • -On January 7, 1970, the War of Attrition took a turn, israeli Air Force began bombing military targets into Egyptian territory. Military bases and missile batteries were destroyed. On February 1970, the Soviets assumed responsibility for Egypt's anti-aircraft defense, deploying missiles and combat aircrafts. -1,424 israeli soldiers killed -About 3,000 wounded -The amount is Unknown, but it is assumed to be around 10,000 Egyptians killed.
