If I'm truly betraying my colonists, I'll need a redcoat.
Benedict Arnold betrayed General Washington in around 1779, by secretly negotiating with the British.
That's what you think!
...I was almost caught wearing my redcoat!
Benedict was a Revolutionary War hero as a general. He helped the Colonists win many battles along the way to victory.
HA! I got away!
You dirty traitor...
But, Benedict Arnold felt he wasn't recognized for the victories he won for the newfound country, so he ended up betraying the States, and running to the redcoats.
This made him the infamous traitor that you may know him for today.
Benedict got to enemy (British) territory in America, and later retreated to England.
A lesson to be learned; just because you aren't accurately represented for a good thing you've done, don't become a traitor. In my opinion, he should've asked General Washington for recognition for his good deeds.
