  • At the beginning of the story, she was not mature much more playful and does not believe that actions have consequences for instance making fun of Miss Lottie with her friend not realizing that what she did was wrong.
  • Before seeing her parents argue and her dad having a breakdown, Lizabeth had an innocence and now that she sees that her dad isn't the person she thought he was she takes a step into adulthood.
  • When Lizabeth became an adult is after she pulled out Miss Lotties marigolds from her garden and she said that pulling out the marigolds were her last act of childhood because it led to her finally comprehend the rationale behind Miss Lotties weird habbits
