Mr. Mukasa, we are very excited to have you as our newest addition to the Prime Consultants team. I've arranged for our Head of Procurement to give you a tour of our offices
Thank you Mr. Owuma, I look forward to meeting the rest of the team!
A pleasure to you Mr. Mukasa, I have heard great things on your previous role. My name is Mrs. Kigozi, Head of Procurement.
Thank you, I have been told you are familiar with both the commercial and technical sides of business
Comes with the territory, I work with the IT guys to acquire the equipment from the product vendors and service providers
So, what does the average day look like? Do people like working here? I can imagine your workload is quite overwhelming as Procurement is a hectic department.
Prime Consultants was launched in 2013 and we are currently a team of 12. We mainly do project based work in telecommunications and banking sectors and therefore deal with huge amounts of data and financial transactions across our networks. Work starts at 9am to about 4.30pm, I oversee the purchase of the equipment and negotiate with the vendors. Mostly self starters thrive in this work environment as it is intense and there is no time for hand holding!
From what I've heard from your previous role as CIO at Matrix Ltd, you will do just fine here! Let us take a walk through 'the dungeon' to introduce you to your new team
Yes, that's what we call our IT Department here. The team is comprised of some very unique personalities as you will see!
Nice to meet you, Dredex. What equipment am I seeing here? Do we have a data centre?
Mr. Mukasa, meet Dredex, our Network and Systems Admin. I will leave you to it.
Yo, tsup! We've been in desperate need of a CIO. Every time we try to tell the people upstairs about procuring equipment from this century, they usually say there is no money! We are in desperate need of the latest CISCO switches and routers to cater for the heavy traffic since we signed on new clients last week. We outsourced the data centre to some vendor called NakuData.
I have never heard of NakuData before, do they offer a good service?
So why continue using them? Doesn't the organisation know the implications of using unreliable vendors?
Other things take priority and the move would be very expensive. I also heard that Mr. Owuma went to school with the owners
Not really, and also the IT Manager also agrees with me. You will meet her in the next room.
