  • Henry Parkes of New South Wales was one of may people pushing for Australia to become a Federation. He made a speeches about it in 1889  as premier or New South Wales.
  • I believe we should make a federation of Australia.
  • The colonies decided to meet up to confer about federation in intercolonial conventions between 1880 and 1883.
  • Vote here
  •  There were three referendums before federation was agreed upon. Queensland and Western Australia did not participate in the first, and WA didn't in the second either.
  • Women were only given a vote in South Australia and Western Australia, and the aboriginals had no say.
  • Queen Victoria approved the constitution on July 9 1900.

  • There was many parties after the colonies were declared states of the nation; they were finally Australia.
