Some Animals that live on the mountain are the snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, Himalayan Tahr (a small goat), Himalayan Goral (type of goat), and a red panda. The snow leopard's fur is thick. Its paws are wide enough for staying on top of the snow which is great for walking. Their bodies are strong and slim for hunting.
The elevation of Mt. Everest is about 29,029 ft. Since there is little oxygen on the mountain, people can't think straight. There is little food the climbers can bring so they have to ration food.
Mount Everest is the tallest mountain in the world. There is little oxygen up on the mountain, so you will need to bring air tanks to survive. The temperatures in January which is the coldest month, range to about -33 degrees F.
The first people to successfully climb Mt. Everest and survive was Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. It takes about 6 to 8 weeks to reach the summit. Mt. Everest is located between Tibet and Nepal, the Himalayas and Asia. The location of the area that gets the most snow is known as Everest's Yellow Band.
The Chinese call Mt. Everest the goddess mother of the world. Many die from falling, avalanches, suffocation and low of food.
