The silent trade is when three people trade in a silent way. The middleman was the man who spoke both languages, and picked the time and place. The two other people, who speak different languages dropped their items off with the middleman. The countries that mainly used silent trade was North and West Africa. Since North and west Africans spoke different languages it was hard to trade. The middleman breaks the language barrier. The middleman made the time and location which was near a river between North and West Africa.

The West Africans head to the set location to lay their gold dust out as an offer.
West Africans then walk a few miles from the set location and beat a drum to let the North Africans know the trade was ready.
North Africans then travel to the set location to look at the offer that was layed out.
When the North Africans arrive they put the salt down making a offer for the trade.
