  • Ordinary World

  • Threshold into the Unknown
  • STOP
  • The Road of Trials
  • This is the ORDINARY WORLD for main character (hero), Cady Heron. This is where she grew up and spent all of her time, Africa. This is also where she got homeschooled, and her parents worked as zoologists.
  • The Road of Trials Pt.2
  • This scene is the CALL TO ADVENTURE. This is the moment when Cady has to move to America and begin her new life. This moment plays a big role in the story, because Cady's life completely changes and she has to adapt to the new culture and way of living in the U.S.
  • Belly of the Whale
  • This is the THRESHOLD INTO THE UNKNOWN for Cady. She is going to the first day of High school which is very different for her, and this (literal) entrance into the unknown world/high school, is the true beginning of her journey (all kids are threshold guardians).
  • This part of Cady's Journey is the ROAD OF TRIALS. This is the longest part of the story where Caty meets all of her friends, one of them being "The Plastics": Gretchen Wieners, Karen Smith (trickster), and the leader of the group, Regina George (shapeshifter/shadow). Another part is when she meets her other friends that help her along the way: Damian (trickster) and Janis (mentors and Heralds).
  • The backbuilding burned down years ago, but trust me. We're friends, right?
  • Throughout the ROAD OF TRIALS, Cady begins to take her, Damian, and Janis's games seriously and she begins becoming a plastic. Over time, Cady deserts all of her close friends to become an image that she's truly not supposed to be.
  • This is the BELLY OF THE WHALE moment of the story, where after hosting the party to get Erin Samuels from Regina George, her "best friends" Damian and Janis finally confront her about how they feel about her anymore and this is what really causes Cady to think twice before making her next decision: "Plastics or First Friends?
