  • Colonial times was filled with dame schools, apprenticeships, grammar schools. This was how children got educated and found their future careers. 
  • The new nations and land being set aside for schools in the 1700s.
  • Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin,and  Horace Man all had lasting effects on public schooling and higher education.
  • Public education expanded in the late 1800s and even continue today because it is ever changing.
  • Women and people of colour got more rights during the  women's rights movement and the civil rights movement. 
  • People with disabilities got accommodations to improve their schooling as of 1975. This followed the movements to improve public schooling curriculum.
