back in more ancient times, there was a king, whos personality was half fancy, half barbaric. he owned an arena, which when people were in trouble, determined guilty or innocent.
the princess, the kings daughter, fell in love with this man in the village, the commoner.
the king finds out about this and sentences him to the arena, where the commoner has to pick the lady, or the tiger. the king goes out and picks a mean tiger for the sentencing as well as a pretty lady.
the princess was already mad about a previous love he had, so when she knew learned which door had the lady, and which had the tiger.
the author leaves us wondering which door he opens. we have to guess which one it was based on the princess's actions and attributes.
i think the theme is to always be honest. the king had to find out on his own about his daughter and the commoner. the princess was mad about a old lover, probably because he wasn't honest.
