THE TRANSALL SAGA
13 Year old Mark Harrison was hiking alone in the Magruder Missile Range when, suddenly, he saw a flaming fireball over a canyon wall. Curious, Mark climbed atop a rock to the strange item. It was a bright, orange and blue tube, dancing with color. He reached out to touch it. Instantly, he felt the bite of a snake, and fell off the rock, into a bright light.
When he awoke, Mark realized that his arm was no longer injured from the snake bite, and, for the first time, looked at his surroundings. He was in a forest composed of... red grass and trees? Suddenly, a huge creature attempted to attack him. Mark leaped up and grabbed the nearest branch. The beast missed.
"Would a hallucination attack me?"
With the help of his new companion, Willie, Mark began to collect food and fashioned a shelter from vines, sticks, and leaves.
One day, Mark found something strange. An arrow, stuck in a tree. He was determined to find who the arrow belonged to. On his next scouting trip, he encountered the Howling Thing again. The Howling Thing was clawing at something in a tree. Mark aimed his bow and fired. The creature crashed down on top of him. Mark pulled his spear out and killed the beast
"The Howling Thing was dead."
One morning, Mark woke up to an exciting sight. There, walking to the creek he was camping near, was a group of creatures of whom had similar appearances to people! They, however, had webbed feet and two sets of eyelids. He learned that one was named Leeta. He decided, after the others left, to try to talk to her. She is very frightened by Mark, and ran away, to what seemed to be a prehistoric town.
"People. Planet people. Not so very different from Earth people."
