Storyboard Text

  • Yodoya, the merchant, is about to leave his house
  • Not now, I have to collect my money then go to town. Meet me tonight at 6:00pm!
  • Hello there Toyotomi!
  • Hello Yodoya. I was wondering... Are you able to lend me four thousand yen?
  • See you later. By the way, nice silk lined robe!
  • At the rice patties
  • Well, what about those pants I see over there? Who did you purchase them from and how much did you pay?
  • Where were you? You're a bit late! Do you have the money to pay me back?
  • I am not satisfied. What else do you have to give me?
  • I was buying clothes from the market. Here is the money you lent me and some rice for the interest like you asked!
  • They're from Takumi. I bought them for 2000 yen. They were on sale because Takumi got his head slaughtered off by a samurai since he did not bow in front of him!
  • I'm not sure Yodoya.
  • In town
  • How much for the jewelry?!?!
  • You are a horrible person! *spits on Yodoya* You do not work hard hours to make these items!! Lazy parasite.
  • Merchants
  • Just as Yodoya is about to leave, he is approached by Toyotomi (a samurai) Toyotomi asks for some money as he is needing a new sword!
  • Back at home
  • Thank you for meeting me. I know it's late. Here is the money you asked for. Please pay it all back in 1 week! I am also expecting something else for interest.
  • Yodoya is wealthy, he often lends money to anyone in need! A while ago, a farmer needed some money and now it's time for him to repay Yodoya in money and other goods!
  • The next day
  • Oh goodness. Well thank you! Goodbye.
  • What a gorgeous sash!
  • Its worth about 5000 yen, which looks bout what you have on you! Do you want to buy it?
  • Yodoya is in town to trade goods. He is referred to as a parasite by the peasants for the whole day that he spends there. He is not allowed to mix with the higher classes unless it is for business.
  • The shoguns take Yodoya
  • Why am I here?!?!
  • Yodoya arrives home. He meets Toyotomi and gives him the money and asks for all of it back in one week along with some goods for interest!
  • May I quickly ask, even though I should not as this isn't business related, but why are you spending so much time with him?
  • Well I am sorry to hear that. Goodnight Toyotomi.
  • I appreciate your generosity, however, I must get back to my daimyo! We are practicing meditation  together.
  • I am afraid he is getting old and unwell, and that I will become a ronin.
  • At another town, Yodoya is trading left over items from yesterday to sell in the future. He sees a lovely embroidered silk sash. He trades almost all his items with the artisan so he can have it for himself! Later he puts it on and wears it proudly. However, he sees some shoguns heading in his direction.
  • I would love to.
  • Thankyou!
  • *exchanges items*
  • It is actually a crime for merchants to flaunt their wealth by wearing expensive clothing such as silk. Yodoya was seen with the sash by a shogun that had already warned him. Now he is being taken up to prison were he will remain for a while! Looks like Toyotomi gets to keep the money he was lent.
  • I'll have the emperor know about this!!!
  • The emperor has no power. You should know that by now. But guess what, you're too busy selling other peoples goods and disobeying the law.
  • You know exactly why! It is illegal for merchants to wear silk, and look whhat I caught you for doing!
