Storyboard Text

  • Mom how do I know if I'm in a "healthy" relationship?
  • Well honey, a healthy relationship is based off of honesty, trust, respect, and support.
  • Honesty and trust can tie into the same category because if you don't have them, how can you believe your loved one?
  • And last but not least, support. It's necessary because it helps let each person know that you are there for them when they need you.
  • Respect is just a common thing that is necessary. If there is no mutual respect, then one person in the relationship will feel unimportant (if not both).
  • An unhealthy relationship has partners that are constantly jealous and controlling.
  • Often, the relationships are abusive (emotional and physical).
  • They also consist of manipulation and fear. This is because one is more dominant over the other.
  • This includes setting boundaries, knowing your limits, and be able to recognize if the person you're dating is secure.
  • But, while in a relationship you need to be safe.
  • Okay I think I understand. So to be in a good relationship, it has to be like Lily and Marshall from How I Met Your Mother since they're so forgiving, respectful, and loving/supportive?
  • Yes!
  • Exactly; Now you're getting it!
  • And an unhealthy relationship is like the Joker and Dr. Harleen Quinzel because its abusive and manipulating?
