  • imagery
  • the scarlet ibis died far away from home and "under a bleeding tree" and doodle died far away from home and a "red nightshade bush"
  • theam
  • when doodle was born most of the family beleved he wouldent live. but doodle did, and he came a long way; much like the scarlet ibis.
  • dynamic charactor
  • Its long, graceful neck jerked twice into an S, then straightened out, and the bird was still. A white veil came over the eyes and the long white beak unhinged. Its legs were crossed and its clawlike feet were delicately curved at rest. Even death did not mar its grace, for it lay on the earth like a broken vase of red flowers.
  • personal reaction
  • the theme of ¨The Scarlet Ibis"is that love can be a cruel thing. brother says that his love for doodle was born with a seed of cruelty. I believe that ¨The Scarlet Ibis¨ is conveying that we may be complex creatures, but we still make mistakes, we are still cruel, but despite this we are capable of love
  • a dynamic charactor in the scarlet ibis is brother because over ime his love for doodle grown and now he lives to regret what he did to his brother
  • after reading the scarlet ibis I was compeled too go back and read it once again. going through it twice helped show me all the subtle pieces of imagery and foreshadowing in the story. I found it to be an extremely well writen story and enjoyed reading it
