The French and Indian War, was a battle between the British and the French. The reason of the war was because both sides wanted the land East of the Mississippi River. When the British won the war they got more power, but because of war expenses, they had to start taxing the colonists led to a lot of problems.
After the British colonists had won the war, as well as land from the French, to prevent additional conflict between the Natives and the colonists, the British issued the Proclamation of 1763, which doesn't allow the colonists to settle past the Appalachian Mountain. This really angered the colonists, as they had just fought and died for that land.
