Part 3 - Baptista's House*
Are you content to stay?
I am content you shall entreat me stay, But yet not stay, entreat me how you can.
Katherina is upset and thinks Petruchio is not going to marry her. She thinks that the wedding is a joke to amuse Pertruchio's friends. Petruchio arrives late and unconcerned, dressed in old, worn clothes and on a sick horse. He claims important business as his excuse for being late.
Petruchio shoves the priest in the middle of the ceremony, causing him to fall and drop the book. Everyone, including the priest is surprised. Petruchio also yells his acceptance of Katherina in the ceremony.
Petruchio tells Katherina that they are leaving before the feast. Katherina asks if they can stay, but Peturchio refuses, saying that he is happy that she asked, but that now that they are married, she is his property and must do as he says. He again uses the excuse of having "important business" for leaving early.
