  • The brain recognizes pain, sensation, etc, and sends a signal to the nerves
  • In each nerve, there are fascicles containing hundreds of neurons
  • Info. from the dendrites reach the cell body; the headquarters of the neuron
  • The dendrites (branches) receive signals from other neurons and sensory cells
  • The axon is where info. travels to the end of the neuron, and it has schwann cells wrapped in myelin (for insulation)
  • electrical signals are converted to chemical signals as it travels along the synapse
  • these then connect to other neurons
  • These impulses travel to areas of the body, allowing for movement, feeling, etc.
