The brain recognizes pain, sensation, etc, and sends a signal to the nerves
In each nerve, there are fascicles containing hundreds of neurons
Info. from the dendrites reach the cell body; the headquarters of the neuron
The dendrites (branches) receive signals from other neurons and sensory cells
The axon is where info. travels to the end of the neuron, and it has schwann cells wrapped in myelin (for insulation)
electrical signals are converted to chemical signals as it travels along the synapse
these then connect to other neurons
These impulses travel to areas of the body, allowing for movement, feeling, etc.
