At the beginning of the play, it starts with 5 family members; Walter, Ruth, Beneatha, Mama, and Travis. These family members work hard everyday and they live in a small apartment where they share a restroom with there neighbors.
The Younger family recieve a check of $10,000. Walter and Beneatha fight for the money. After they "fight" for the money, Mama gets annoyed and buys a house in a white neighborhood.
After Mama buys the house, Walter gets really upset. Mama feels like she shouldn't give him some money but she ends up giving him the rest of the money so he can give some to his sister for her to study at college and so he can buy a liquor store.
Bobo comes to Younger's apartment and tell Walter that Willy took off with all of their money. Walter never gave Beneatha her money for her Medical school. This makes them lose faith and trust in each other.
Walter decides to call Linder to "make some business" with him. While they are talking, something hit Walter where he realized that he was being selfish with the money. He learns nothing is better than family. He decides to move into the house.
After Linder leaves, they all hug each other and they all connect as one family again. The movers come in and they start taking everything. The last thing Mama does is she goes back to get her plant.
