Storyboard Text

  • The Children are sick.
  • This measuring cup does read in Milliliters , Centiliters, or Liters what will I do?
  • "It Hurts"
  • Using the Staircase method.
  • The staircase consist of all the basic units which are Kilo, Hecto, deca, in the middle is the basic units grams, meters, and liters. Then it goes Deci, Centi, Milli
  • We got the Medicine.
  • We have the right medicine you guys should all be good.
  • We're tired.
  • I need to give the children 3 fluid ounces of medicine but my cup only measures in Milliliters , Centiliters, or Liters. I need to convert these measurements.
  • Now the kids need to sleep.
  • First you need to find how much is in a ounce. It is 29.5735 you multiply that by 3 which is the amount of fluid ounce. You get 8.87205 mL with this you could use the staircase method by going up or down on the stairs.
  • The Staircase method.
  • Using the staircase method we found the measurements.  6.5 feet in Kilometers is 1.98 X 10 to the -3 power. 6.5 feet in Meters is 1.98 X 10 to the 0 power. 6.5 feet in Centimeters is 1.98 X 10 to the 2nd power. 6.5 feet is 1.98 X 10 to the 3rd power. You can get these all by simply using the staircase method to show you what direction to move the decimal to.
  •  Once you convert 3 ounces to all of the measurements you should get 8.87 X 10  the power 1 Milliliters. Then for Centiliters it is 8.87 X 10 to the 0 power. For Liters it is 8.8 X 10 to the -3 power.
  • Now the children are all ready.
  • Now I know " I CAN METRIC!!!!!!"
  • Now that the kids had their medicine they need to sleep but they need to have the beds exactly 6.5 feet apart. But, yet again the measuring tape doesn't measure in feet only in meters and centimeters. We need to find how much is 6.5 feet in kilometers, Meters, Centimeters, and millimeters.
  • We know that first we need to know how much meters and in a foot and I did my calculations and 1 foot equals 0.3048 meters. Now we get that and multiply that by 6.5 the amount we need and we will get 1.9812 which is 1.98 X 10 to the 0 power. Now we use the staircase method to find the rest by moving our decimals left or right.
  • Now that I have successfully converted all the medicine and converted the length between the beds the kids can now go to sleep without them having any problems
