GET OUT OF OUR SCHOOL, ORC!
Eric and Sheila
Before school started, August had a look around the school. He liked the headteacher, called Mr. Tushman, and met three pupils: Jack Will, who was fairly nice, Charlotte, who seemed very kind, and Julian, who was horrible and rude. Julian said, "What's the deal with your face? I mean, were you in a fire or something?"
Stop being mean to Auggie!
What's wrong with your face?!
I'll fight him!
Auggie stayed friends with Jack but Julian was really mean to August. One of the ways that he did this was by making up a rule that if anyone touched or was touched by August, they had to wash it off within 5 minutes or they would catch 'The Plague'
'Courage. Kindness. friendship. Character.'
Julian started writing notes to Auggie, placing them in his locker. They are disgraceful and offensive. Auggie sends notes back, but they are no where near as offensive: he just makesup a girl called Beulah and sends fake love letters.
The class went on a residential trip to a nature reserve. They were watching an open-air movie with some other schools. Auggie's friend needed the toilet so they went into the woods. Some older children were meat but their friends saved them.
At the end of the year, August won the Henry Ward Beecher Award for being courageous, kind, friendly, characterful and determined throughout the year.
