  • The English language needs colons to provide a pause while introducing related information. A semicolon is used in the English language to connect two independent clauses.
  • Dependent clauses depend on independent clauses to make it a complete sentence.
  • Subordinate conjunctions are what make dependent clauses dependent.
  • Before the meeting starts, I would like to thank you all for joining me.
