  • Tom Walker, and his wife are described as miserly and bitter. They even hide things from each other
  • Part 4
  • One day, Tom Walker takes a short cut to his house and rests in the woods for a moment is approached by the devil to make a deal with him. The devil offers him Pirate Kidd's treasure which is buried nearby.
  • Part 5
  • Tom goes home to think about the deal, and even questions whether or not if the meeting took place or if he imagined it. He then tells his wife about the deal. The wife tells him to pursue the deal to make them rich. But Tom declines to sell his soul. So the wife thinking about taking the treasure for herself goes to find the devil. She returns but empty handed. She then goes to the devil the next evening but doesnt return
  • Part 6
  • After losing his wife, Tom decides to deal with the devil and becomes very wealthy but with one condition, to open up a bank and lend money with 2% interest begins to worry about his soul. It is clear that he regrets his deal and tries to repent by reading the Bible and attending church, but he remains in his nefarious business. Then one day, he hears three loud knocks at his door!
  • The devil arrived to collect his due: Tom's soul.
  • The Husband was prying about to detect her secret hoards (21-22) No one tried to stop the arguments between the couple Tome agrees to the deal but realizes that it was a bad decision but it was too late
