How Fossils Form by Owen Carron
I'm a cute little kitty cat.
The cat dies and is left laying on the ground.
*cough cough sniff sniff*
The cat is buried quickly and over time, layers of sediments build up on top of the buried organism.
After millions of years, the Earth's crust move the layer where the fossil is closer and closer to the surface of the Earth. The cat's cells are replaced by minerals.
The top layers where the fossils is are eroded away by wind or rain.
Here's a new one in the fossil record.
The fossil is now exposed.
