St. Therese was born on the 2nd of January 1873 She was known as The Little Flower Of Jesus
The child of a watch maker Therese Martin was born in Alencon. She was the youngest of 9 children four which died in childhood her mother died when Therese was 4 years old.
In October, 1881, Louis (Her Father) enrolled his youngest daughter (Therese) as a day boarder at Lisieux's Benedictine Abbey school of Notre-Dame du Pre. Therese hated the place and stated "the five years (1881 - 1886) I spent there were the saddest of my life."
1886, Therese sought permission from her father to join her sisters Marie and Pauline at the Lisieux Convent
She needed special permission from the pope because she was so young.
St Therese sadly died at the young age of 24 from tuberculosis. After her death she knew that she had achieved her goal to do something great and to help save souls. St. Therese was canonised by Pope Pius XI on May 17 1925 which was 26 years after her death
