  • In Moscow, Russia there was a boy named Ivan, who was the only child of Tsar Vasily III and Elena Glinsky.
  • Ivan's religious beliefs
  • Through Ivan's whole life he was part of a russian orthodox church
  • the young life of Ivan
  • Ivan's young life was disrupted by the struggle for power among landowning nobles, known as boyars.
  • In 1533, at the age of 3 Ivan's father died and he was crowned ruler. He didn't have absolute rule because of a group of nobles called the Boyars. His mother died when he was 8 years old.
  • Ivan's rule
  • When Ivan turned 16, the Boyars fought to control him. Ivan defeated them which gave him the absolute power that he was looking for.
  • During his rule Ivan was so terrible to his people that he was given the nickname "Ivan the terrible", and nobody wanted to go against him giving him absolute power.
