  • The French Revolution was a period in which commoners demanded equality in France. It took place from 1789 to 1799.
  • The Tennis Court Oath
  • we're staying here!
  • Some factors that led to the revolution are the increase in bread's price, higher taxing on the peasants, and a bad king. King Louis was indecisive, he push problems off, and he spent too much money.
  • The Storming of the Bastille
  • Each Estate got one vote, so the third estate usually lost. They held the first one in 100 years to decide if the nobles should be taxed. It got decllined so the third estate made the National Assembly.
  • The Great Fear
  • The National Assembly found themselves locked out of the meeting room, so they broke into an indoor the tennis court and pledged to stay until they wrote up a new constution.
  • There were rumors going around and commoners got scared so they started collecting weapons to defend Paris. They were looking for gunpowder and stormed the Bastille.
  • It was a wave of senseless panic where peasants became outlaws themselves. They broke into manors and destroyed legal documents and sometimes destroyed the house altogether.
