Hello there! I will be telling you all about the Black Death, and how the nuns helped in this time!
Lets start from the beginning! The Black Death arrived in Europe by sea in October 1347 when 12 trading ships docked at the Sicilian port of Messina after a long journey through the Black Sea!
I don't feel so well guys!
I've been sick all night!
What are these strange things on me?! They are oozing!
The people who gathered on the docks to greet the ships men were horrified: Most of the sailors aboard the ships were dead or still alive but gravely ill. They had fever, unable to keep food down and terrible pain. Strangest of all, they were covered in mysterious black boils that oozed blood and pus and gave their illness its name the “Black Death.”
As the Black Death spread throughout Europe, and killed so many people. A lot of children were orphaned. The nuns would take in the children and care for them.
It's okay, I'll take care of you guys until you are better!
