  • Before the 1920s most people lived and worked in rural areas.  
  • People didn't travel much either. They usually stayed and did things at their home.
  • In the 1920s Henry Ford invented a new model of the automobile, model T.
  • After model T came out people started to travel more.
  • In addition to the new automobile, more people moved out of the rural areas and into urban areas for more job opportunities. This is known as urbanization. 
  • By the end of the 1920s, most people had an automobile and more than half of the people in the US lived in urban areas.
