  • William took firm control over his land. He also made the Domesday Book.

  • "What touches all, should be approved by all"
  • Henry expanded the system of royal justice, laid the basis for common law. He began the jury system.
  • Doomsday Book
  • John was a unworthy king. In 1205, John suffered a major setback when he lost to Philip II and gave up land in Anjou and Normandy. John was also excommunicated by pope Innocent III when he rejected the pope's nominee during the new selection a new arcbishop of Cabterbury. When he angered his own nobles with power abuse. He was cornered and forced to sign the Magna Carta.

  • The Magna Carta was a document consisting of list of feudal rights. Two very important ideas in the Magna Carta was that nobles had certain rights and that the monarch must obey the law.
