Hopefully I would be able to find the flying shuttle
William, a business man from the countryside heard that there are many new inventions in town. He saw the chance that he could come order some for his new textile factory.
This is perfect! I want one of these
Back at home, William was still using the water wheel for power sources, but as he tours around the factory he saw the new invention of steam engine. Water wheels are not very efficient since they are super slow and to use them, factory would have to be located near river.
I want some of these in my factory as well
The flying shuttle improved the weaving efficiency and allowed one person to do double weaving and produce wider fabrics without having to slow down for the threat to be spun.
Wow! my factory is finally complete
The cotton gin help sped up the process of cleaning cotton by quickly removing seeds from the cotton fiber. The cotton were then processed into different cotton products and used to make clothing.
The Spinning jenny invented by James Hargreaves allowed one person to turn a single wheel and spin up to 8 threads at the same time. Because of this, more threads can be produce than before.
Before the industry was transformed by new inventions, most textile products were made at home known as the cottage industry. With the invention of the flying shuttle, cotton gin, steam engine and spinning jenny, William's factory grew rapidly and bring more wealth to him.
