  • France is Broke
  • No Bread??!!!
  • Sorry France is going broke 
  • Tennis court and National Assembly is formed
  • Oath of The Tennis court
  • Oath of the tennis court.
  • France is spending more money than it collected in taxes. The country didn't spend to much, they just did not raise enough in taxes. The property- holders like the nobles and the clergy paid the least amount of taxes and they collected money from peasant farmers, but passed little to the government.
  • Battle of Bastille 
  • The lawyers and businessmen of the Third Estate didn't like the old rules which meant they would all vote separate and automatically the first and second estate would out number them. They believed they were the most important and the nobility was an old-fashioned idea from the middle-ages. The third estate refused to meet as a separate group and went to a indoor tennis court and then declared themselves the National Assembly.
  • Declaration of The Rights of Man
  • In the Oath of the Tennis court the members swore to write a constitution for France. The revolution had begun. The members were hopeful that the king would go along with them. He sided with the nobles instead and sent 18,000 soldiers to Versailles. The news of the national assembly vame on top of bad economic news, riots broke out and many working people were out of work.
  • King gets beheaded
  • This is the Battle of Bastille. The Battle of Bastille took place place outside of a prison when a crowd set out to demand the government give them cannons and guns. Confusion broke out and a battle had begun. The crowd killed the governor, soldiers, and others and the prisoners were freed. This was the opening to the French Revolution.
  • We want cannons!!
  • This was a document the National Assembly passed and was the statement of the principles of the revolution. The assembly declared that all people had the rights of freedom and equality. The words that were in the declaration which was "liberty, equality, fraternity" became the battle cry of the revolution.
  • Declaration of the Rights of Man
  • The nobles did not like this new declaration because they hated losing their privilges. Many of the nobles left France including the kings brother. The king then tried to leave France but people cought him and then people lost trust in him so he was beheaded.
