The White familiar was sitting in the house of a lonely town with two homes very far apart. A man with many travels in his past arrives to the home, his name is Sergeant Major Morris.
Morris has a small monkey paw that he acquired when he went to India. The paw was put under a spell to grant three seperate men three wishes. Mr White wants the paw but Morris says it causes trouble and does not want him to have it.
Sergeant Morris tries to get rid of the paw but Mr White gets it and makes his first wish for two hundred pounds. The paw moves and the following day the family receives settlement money from the company Herbert, their son, works for of two hundred pounds. Herbert was caught in a machine at work and killed.
Mr White had made his third and final wish.
The knocking on the door stops and Mrs White has lost hope.
Mr. White runs through the gate and looks down the street.
